What is your favorite place on campus? Why?
The Fabrication Lab has by far been one of my favorite areas on campus to visit and work in. As a student I took a photography course that focused on implementing fabrication tools like laser cutters and 3-D printers into our work. It is an indescribable feeling to see a laser cutter etching your work into glass or paper.
What advice do you have for prospective students?
Never be afraid to ask questions! There are so many wonderful people on this campus looking to assist you. From your professors to any of the departments, even if they don’t know the answer they can always point you in the right direction. Your experiences do not have to end with UNT, they are meant to begin here.
Why did you decide to attend UNT?
UNT picked me if I am going to be honest. I was graduating high school and was unsure of where to attend to pursue my passion. Money was always in short supply since I was in a single-parent household and I didn’t really know how to fund my education at the time. All of my art teachers told me UNT was the best school in Texas for visual arts. I applied to UNT knowing that I might not attend if I couldn’t find the resources to pay for college. On the day I was getting ready to ‘walk the stage’ I opened a letter detailing that I was selected to participate with the Emerald Eagle Scholars Program. Everything sort of fell in to place after that and I was actually able to attend my dream school.
What is a random fact about you?
